The Athletic Association at Saint Katharine’s was disbanded by Monsignor
Close on September 18, 2007. It has been reconstituted as the Athletic
Ministry Committee. The change was made to align it more closely to the
overall parish mission and to more accurately reflect its constitution and
operation. Like the other ministries in the parish, its members are
appointed by, and serve at the pleasure of, the Pastor.
The Athletic Ministry Committee is part of a comprehensive youth ministry
program that strives to develop and administer athletic programs in the
parish which can be used to foster the spiritual, physical, moral and
emotional growth of young people. It oversees the implementation of the CYO and parish policies and regulations on athletics and the integration of
athletics into the mission of Saint Katharine of Siena parish.
Participants in athletics at Saint Katharines (grades 1-8) must either:
† Attend St. Katharine of Siena School, or
† Be registered members of the parish community and participate in the age
appropriate Religious Education program.
The goal of the Athletic Ministry is for the athletic programs to be used as
a vehicle to teach Christian values and principles of faith, character
development, and sportsmanship.
