Requirements

Thank you for offering your time and talent to the youth of St. Katharine of Siena. 

1. Please complete the Coaching Volunteer Data Sheet , sign the Coaches Code of Conduct, and return both to the address shown on the Coaching Volunteer Data Sheet.

2. Background Checks

A.  Pennsylvania: click here for information and instructions.

B.  FBI Clearance: this is required if you:

Contact the Office for Child and Youth Protection
(215-587-2466) to obtain the FBI fingerprint card and learn where to submit it to be processed.  

3. Training

Education and awareness are key to preventing the sexual abuse of children.  All priests and deacons, as well as parish staff and volunteers who have regular contact with children, are required to attend:


A. Safe Environment training: Protecting God’s Children - for Adults.  This training provides those involved in ministry and service to children with a greater understanding of their role as adults in our Church to be
protectors of children, models of appropriate behavior and relationships, and advocates for those who are most vulnerable. Click here for the locations and dates of upcoming training sessions.


To register to attend one of these sessions, click here. This course is 2.5 hours in length. Be sure to turn a copy of your Attendance Certificate into the Rectory immediately after attending this training.


B. Additional Training for CYO Athletic Head Coaches
and Assistant Coaches
: Prior to being a Head or Assistant Coach for the second year, CYO Head and Assistant Coaches are also required to attend a CYO Coaches Orientation, a one-day seminar. Click here for a schedule of upcoming seminars and locations. Be sure to turn a copy of your Attendance Certificate into the Rectory immediately after attending this training.

On-going Education: Information concerning the prevention of child sexual abuse and other child safety issues is available on the Virtus website. New bulletins are posted every two weeks. 


What to do if you have already completed these requirements:
If you have already received these clearances and completed the training, either at St. Katharine’s or for another parish or organization, then send in or confirm that St. Katharine’s has your clearance and attendance certificates on file before you begin coaching.  You may contact St. Katharine of Siena School (610-688-5451) or Sister Kathleen Callaghan at St. Katharine’s Rectory (610-688-7890) or Deirdre Koerick, St. Katharine’s Athletic Association (610-999-0618) to confirm.


All paperwork/certificates must be returned to the St. Katharine’s Rectory, Attention: Safe Environment Program prior to beginning your service to the youth of St. Katharine’s.

3. AGE

Head coaches must be at least 21 years old.
