Marriage Encounter

Marriage Encounter SymbolWorldwide Marriage Encounter offers a weekend experience designed to give married couples the opportunity to learn a technique of loving communication that they can use for the rest of their lives. It's a chance to look deeply into their relationship with each other and with God. It's a time to share their feelings, hopes and dreams with each other. The weekend provides a time together, away from the distractions and tensions of everyday life, while encouraging couples to focus on each other and their relationship. Each Marriage Encounter weekend is presented by previously encountered couples and a religious (a priest on the Catholic weekend) for the benefit of new couples.

Marriage Encounter was originally started by the Roman Catholic Church as a way for married couples to enrich their lives and learn how to communicate not only their thoughts but their feelings for one another. Well, they found out that it really works and soon the idea was adopted by groups from many other faiths. Each of these groups are called "expressions" as they are all different expressions for the original ideas adapted to the framework of each individual faith. Although Marriage Encounter is associated with various churches world-wide, it is a self-run organization and is funded through member contributions.
