Stewardship at St. Katharine's
Seven days a week, St. Katharine's is the center of fellowship and service - through the Roman Catholic liturgy and through an extensive assortment of ministries made possible through the stewardship of our parishioners.
Stewards are more than just volunteers; stewards are disciples responding to God's calling. In the Parable of the Talents (Matt 25:23), Jesus shows that faithful caretakers actively apply and extend what they have been entrusted with.
Today's stewards give back to God's service a portion of the time, talent and treasure that He has so generously given to each of us. By allocating God's portion first, we are able to honor Him with our best gifts, rather than what's left over after we've served ourselves. What size portion? An adequate response fitting to God's generosity. The way you respond to His calling, your stewardship, is between you and God.
Everyone in the parish is invited to share the joy that God offers when we help others in His name.
Time
The willingness to offer more than one hour each Sunday is the key to stewardship. Giving freely of our time by actively engaging in activities that serve God and support each other demonstrates our commitment through our presence and provides a springboard for sharing talents.Talent
God showered each of us with unique talents. Some have the gift of leadership or music, teaching, law, medicine, or social work. Others have special talents that could be used to prepare meals for the needy, organize youth activities, or enhance spiritual illumination and growth.Treasure
Stewardship, based on a consciousness of all our blessings, provides an invitation to parishioners to support God's work with a portion of their income. By voluntarily making an annual commitment on a parish Card of Intent, parishioners assign the first fruits of their labors to God. Your commitment establishes a more reliable basis for preparing the parish's budget and stewardship commitments, and may be adjusted based upon parishioner circumstances.
