The Lord needs you, young people, for his church. My friends, the Lord needs you!
~ Pope Francis, World Youth Day 2013, vigil
St. Katharine’s Parish is a community striving to bring it’s youth closer to Jesus Christ. Youth ministry offers the teens in 7-8 grades (Junior High) and 9-12 (Senior High) opportunities in the three S’s: Service, Spiritual, and Social development. The goal of any youth ministry, with the help of a strong parish, is to empower young people as disciples of Jesus Christ in our world today. Stay tuned to this page for all the new youth ministry updates.
High School and Junior High Youth Group is open to all teen members of the parish in Grades 7– 8 and Grades 9 to 12. Junior High and High School meetings are held several times each month and include spiritual, service and social opportunities to help our youth and teens build and strengthen their personal relationship with Our Lord. The High School will meet the 1st and 3rd of the month and the 7th and 8th grade will meet the 1st and the 4th of the month. Adult parishioners are also invited to become mentors for the teens.
A Note From Stephanie
My name is Stephanie Twohig, St. Katharine’s new Youth Minister. Though I am a parishioner of St. Thomas of Villanova, I have been an active member of the St. Katharine’s School for the last 8 years. I have been volunteering and running the school’s talent show and Spring Cultural Arts Night. For the last 2 ½ years I have taught and directed the school’s concert band. Before this new position, I taught music at Immaculate Conception School and at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy for the last combined 20 years. This new venture for the parish and for me is an exciting opportunity for the youth of the parish. Youth Ministry offers the students in 7- 8 grades and 9-12 grades opportunities for service, spiritual, and social development. I hope to continue this mission by working with all the students in the Jr High and Senior High School: catholic, public, and private schools. The goal of youth ministry, with the help of a strong parish, is to empower young people as disciples of Jesus Christ in our world today.
I am very excited about working with the youth of St. Katharine’s of Siena Parish and I have many ideas and plans for the upcoming school year. I hope many of you will be part of these activities. St. Katharine’s is a vibrant parish and I wish to keep the youth, the future of our Church, involved and active and be reminded that we are all called to go out to love and serve the Lord. Together we can all make a difference in the world!
