Close-Knit Community
The Close-knit Community of St. Katherine of Siena Parish is a group of dedicated women who knit or crochet warm items for those in need: hats, scarves, mittens, shawls, lap blankets, etc.
Founded in September 2014, this group meets every Wednesday in the parish center from 1 to 2:30 pm. By the end of 2017, we had produced over 400 pieces, which were donated to St Joseph Indian School in South Dakota, St. Martin de Porres Parish, Mercy Hospice, St. John’s Hospice, St Mary’s Home for Elderly Women (Philadelphia), and St. Mary Center (Lansdale). We also accept recommendations for other organizations who could use our help.
We welcome everyone who would like to assist us in our mission. We can help you brush up on your knitting and crocheting skills if they are a bit rusty, and, of course, men are always welcome. If needed, a ride can be arranged. Also, we happily accept contributions of yarn. In all, we have a lot of fun and invite others to come join us.
