Adult Altar Servers

Adult altar servers typically serve at funeral Masses. These are held on weekdays or on Saturday mornings. Servers perform the traditional duties of an altar server. They wear the traditional albs over their clothes (provided by the church) and serve throughout the funeral Mass in pairs. Sometimes three servers are needed for larger funerals. Funerals are approximately one hour in length.

A group of 6-8 people are on a call list and are randomly asked to participate when a funeral is in need of servers. Involvement is at the server’s discretion according to his or her availability. Training is given by Monsignor Brouwers and new servers are paired with seasoned servers initially to ease into the role.
