Catholics need a reminder about the true meaning of the Eucharist. So concluded the US Conference of Catholic Bishops following a recent study that found that only 31% of U.S. Catholics believe that bread and wine truly become the Body and Blood of Jesus during Mass; most think they only symbolize Christ. The National Eucharistic Revival, a three-year initiative, was created by the bishops to restore understanding and devotion to this mystery and remind us of Jesus’ Real Presence in the Eucharist.
- Year one was committed to revival on the diocesan level, and focused on strengthening Eucharistic devotion at individual dioceses.
- Year two just began on June 11 and brings the Revival to the parish level through celebrations of Mass, Adoration and grassroot church events. One of the highlights in our archdiocese is the Eucharistic Congress on September 30 in Doylestown (details here).
- Year three will be dedicated to going out on mission to share the gifts of the Eucharist. This final year will kick off with the National Eucharistic Pilgrimage in May 2024 and Congress on July 17-21.
You will have many opportunities to deepen or rekindle your relationship with Jesus in the Eucharist at SKS throughout this second year. Watch for details about a parishioner road trip to the Eucharistic Congress, book and video recommendations, discussion groups and much more.
